In many therapeutic and psychosocial contexts, people encounter the limits of what can be expressed. Traumatic experiences, deep emotional shocks, or shame-laden memories often elude clear linguistic capture. In such moments, the body comes to the fore as a medium of expression: body language, posture, voice, and gestures play a central role in narrative. The psychosomatic Tuesday colloquium is dedicated to these phenomena and asks: How does the unsayable manifest itself in the body? What significance does bodily expression have for the therapeutic relationship and understanding? Based on clinical observations and theoretical reflections, ways of accessing these difficult-to-communicate experiences will be explored.
