The Swiss Movement Disorders Society (SMDS) is a multidisciplinary and interprofessional non-profit organization established in 2017. It brings together clinicians, nurses, physiotherapists, scientists, and other healthcare professionals with a shared commitment to advancing research, clinical knowledge, and education in the field of movement disorders. The society focuses on a wide range of conditions including Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonian syndromes, dystonia, chorea, ataxia, tremors, tics, restless legs syndrome, and other related motor system disorders. SMDS also extends its scope to conditions such as spasticity and apraxia, fostering collaboration and exchange across various specialties to improve care and understanding in this complex field.
